Programmed by Berkeley Symphony with Anna Clyne
Works by composers from three continents come together to soak in the full moon’s glow. Berkeley Symphony musicians and friends perform six small-ensemble pieces written by living composers from three cities: two from San Francisco, two from Hamburg, and two from Shanghai.
They will be performing music by Mason Bates and me, representing the Bay Area. To represent Hamburg, there will be works by Charlotte Seither and Alessandro Anatrini. And from Shanghai, we will hear pieces by Peilei Shang and by Bright Sheng.
The Future of Orchestral Culture is an international fellowship program developed by a consortium of musical institutions across the globe: Berkeley Symphony, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the University of Music and Drama Hamburg, Symphoniker Hamburg, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.
