Songs of Ice and Fire (2018)

about

Songs of Ice and Fire is a collection of three love songs based on poetry by the American poet, Amy Lowell (1874-1925). Each poem either compares love to ice or fire, or both. The selection of these poems was inspired by the Baroque composer, Francesca Caccini's Chi Desia Di Saper in which she also refers to love as both burning and freezing.

Both "The Giver of Stars," and "Absence" come from Amy Lowell's Sword Blades and Poppy Seed (1914). "Opal" comes from Pictures of the Floating World (1919).

Songs of Ice and Fire is written for Liaison Ensemble in collaboration with Helia Music Collective.
